Let there be no doubt: Italian food is simply the best comfort food in the world. Whether it is a pasta, pizza, lasagna, risotto or tiramisu the list of delicious Italian dishes are infinite. I lined up 3 of my favorite places to taste real Italian food. Mamma mia!

1. Pesto

If I want to eat really good Italian food I always go to Pesto at Veilinghavenkade. What I especially love about this place is that they serve amazing Italian dishes a little different then usual. They make it like the Italians do, aperitivos style: small homemade finger food as an appetite for dinner. Order an Aperol Spritz with it and dream away to better times beneath the Italian sun….

2. Spaghetteria

If you have never heard of Spaghetteria, I guarantee you that you will love it! Read: delicious food (their ravioli is just great!), amazing wines and long tables full of people enjoying their meal. Even tough they have 3 locations in Utrecht, make sure to come early at night, since this place is almost always full!

3. De Pizzabakkers

If you are just as much a pizza lover as I am, then de Pizzabakkers is where you want to be found. This restaurant serves the most delicious pizza that I know! Make sure to save some room for the Calzone al cioccolato (pizza covered in chocolate) as a dessert. Nice fact: their concept is pizza and prosecco, so if you’re down for bubbles this spot is perfect!
