In the heart of Utrecht, you’ll find a new hotel: Cozy Pillow. This cute hotel annex boutique store has a view on the Dom tower and is on the Steenweg, opposite Museum Speelklok. Just as a lot of famous Dutchies we spend the night at this little hotel, this is our staycation experience:

A colorful room with comfy bed

Our room is located just above the boutique store Fred. (from the same owner), a must-visit when shopping on the Steenweg. Overlooking the busy Steenweg, while standing on our cute little french balcony, we are happy that evening falls in: the street clears out and we have an excellent view on Utrechts iconic tower and the neighborhood church (with Museum Speelklok in it). Our room has everything one needs: an illy coffee machine, a large tv, and snacks if you decide to stay in and a large comfy bed. With our hotel pass safely tucked away we head to Cava for drinks ( a bar where Cozy Pillow has a collaboration with).

Breakfast in bed

Convenient about Cozy Pillow is you don’t have to wake up early to make sure you’ll be in time for breakfast. Two yellow bags with croissants are hanged on the doorknob and when you wake up, your breakfast is waiting for you on the other side of the door. Next to croissants, we find fruit, some juice, healthy bars and yogurt in our breakfast bag from Stach. With an espresso in cute little Domtoren cups, we finish our breakfast, almost disappointed we have to leave our comfy bed.

Pros

  • In the heart of Utrecht, places to go to for breakfast, lunch, and dinner are close by
  • A cozy bed in a lovely room overlooking the Dom
  • Breakfast in bed with the breakfast service

Cons

  • We stayed there from Sunday until Monday, a day when it is quiet in the city. De Steenweg can get quite busy during the week.
  • The Dom woke us up around 8 but we are good sleepers so we just turned around and slept again

Dutchie Laura lived in Utrecht for 10 years. And the Domcity has developed ever since. More and more coffee bars have popped up and there are a lot of places to grab a sandwich on the go or stay for work. Best of all, Utrecht has a wide variety in of restaurants. Laura’s favorite? Anything with sushi, pasta, Indian, vegetarian, burgers, fish, meat, classic French… she’s not picky at all!
