As I’ve discovered, a backyard in Inner City Utrecht is mighty hard to come by. Tom and I live on the Annastraat, in the heart of town and there isn’t a spot of real grass to be seen (the fake grass on the deck definitely doesn’t count!).

On those occasional hot summer days, our favourite spot is Park Lepelenburg. On the far east of the city ring, along the Stadsbuitengracht (canal on the city boundary) you’ll find us grabbing some rays. Along with a fab mix of Utrechters, this park is not only well connected to many areas of Utrecht east, but attracts a nice, mixed crowd. From young families to groups of students, you’ll feel safe, undisturbed and like it’s your very own space.

Another favourite is of course Wilhelmina Park, but with it being just that little bit further away from the centre this is the most convenient for a quick sunshine session.

Which is your favourite Utrecht park?

Dutchie Laura lived in Utrecht for 10 years. And the Domcity has developed ever since. More and more coffee bars have popped up and there are a lot of places to grab a sandwich on the go or stay for work. Best of all, Utrecht has a wide variety in of restaurants. Laura’s favorite? Anything with sushi, pasta, Indian, vegetarian, burgers, fish, meat, classic French… she’s not picky at all!
